Michael A. Terhorst

 

Michael A. Terhorst practices in all aspects of employment and labor law.

Mr. Terhorst has extensive experience counseling employers and individual employees and managers on numerous employment related issues including termination, discipline, severance agreements, drug testing, employee searches, EEOC and DFEH investigations. Mr. Terhorst has also litigated and conducted trials in a variety of employment cases on behalf of employers and employees. 

Mr. Terhorst has taught labor law and aviation law at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and is a frequent speaker at various industry conferences and seminars on employment matters, including mediations and litigation. He specializes in federal and state anti-discrimination and civil rights laws, tort claims, contract claims, wage and hour laws and California State Personnel Board hearings.

    Employment litigation. Represented management-side defense work.

  • CA Department of Fair Employment and Housing
    Trial Counsel. Enforcing anti-discrimination laws: Draft legal opinions, motions and pleadings; conduct depositions, investigations; and appear in civil and administrative proceedings.

  • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Adjunct Professor
    Teach graduate courses in Aviation and Labor law. Topics include management and union organization and constituency representation; collective bargaining and typical labor contract terms and provisions; FAA, NTSB, insurance and warranty issues associated with aviation.

  • Consumers Union of U.S., Inc., West Coast Regional Office
    San Francisco, CA. Policy development, legislative and administrative advocacy on issues affecting consumers in the areas of credit, finance, banking, housing, and civil rights.
